Santa Lucia Road Bridge

City of Atascadero
Atascadero, California

Project Summary

The Santa Lucia Bridge, originally constructed in 1926, was demolished and replaced with a 73-foot-long, single-span, cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete slab bridge. Other improvements included roadway approach pavement improvements, stormwater roadside improvements, and site restoration.

Earth Systems provided materials testing and special inspection services for the Santa Lucia Road Bridge project, which was awarded the 2023 Transportation Project of the Year ($5 million to $25 million) by the Central Coast Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA).  The project was funded by grants through the Federal Highway Administration Program, administered through Caltrans Local Assistance District 5.
