Registered Engineer/Branch Manager, Palmdale Office – Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a Registered Engineer in its Palmdale office. This position has the potential for career development in senior management. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee the Caltrans and DSA-approved laboratory
  • Experienced to be the DSA Laboratory Engineer of Record

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven managerial ability and experience in overseeing a geotechnical/materials testing laboratory with a staff of 5-10 employees
  • Experience and personal characteristics that will allow for successful supervision of staff, as well as cooperation and effective interaction with colleagues and other management personnel
  • Solid understanding of financial functions, including review and analysis of business performance data and metrics.
  • Excellent project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills

Registered Project Engineer, Pasadena – Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in the Palmdale office. This position provides support to senior geotechnical engineer by performing various field and office functions. A Project Engineer:

  • conducts fieldwork involving geotechnical site investigations,
  • provides geotechnical site observations and testing during construction,
  • develops written proposals and estimates,
  • evaluates field and laboratory data,
  • performs calculations and analysis to assist in the development of geotechnical design recommendations,
  • prepares geotechnical reports,
  • performs plan reviews, and,
  • carries out other miscellaneous field and laboratory geotechnical-related tasks.

Position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and registered P.E. license preferably with geotechnical concentration/interest. Prior past experience working in a geotechnical environment a plus. Must be familiar with geotechnical software and Microsoft programs. Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to “learn by doing.” Other tasks may include performing field testing and inspection, laboratory testing, and other geotechnical and materials testing tasks. Staff Engineer, San Luis Obispo and Hollister – Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a Staff Engineer with 0-3 years’ experience in both the San Luis Obispo office and the Hollister office. Construction Inspectors – Earth Systems has immediate openings in our California service areas for experienced soil technicians and construction special inspectors. Responsibilities vary by position and generally include field work-related to soils engineering and construction, logging of test borings, observation of grading activities and foundation construction, identification and sampling of construction materials, and/or special inspection of concrete, masonry, and steel. For technicians and inspectors, qualifications should include some of the following:  nuclear testing gauge, ACI, ICC, DSA, or AWS certifications. Hours may vary week to week.
