Registered Engineer/Principal, Antelope Valley– Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a Registered Engineer in its Palmdale office. This position has the potential for career development in senior management. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee the Caltrans and DSA-approved laboratory
  • Experienced to be the DSA Laboratory Engineer of Record

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven managerial ability and experience in overseeing a geotechnical/materials testing laboratory with a staff of 5-10 employees
  • Experience and personal characteristics that will allow for successful supervision of staff, as well as cooperation and effective interaction with colleagues and other management personnel
  • Solid understanding of financial functions, including review and analysis of business performance data and metrics.
  • Excellent project management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills

Project Engineer, Palmdale – Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in the Palmdale office. This position provides support to senior geotechnical engineer by performing various field and office functions. A Project Engineer:

  • conducts fieldwork involving geotechnical site investigations,
  • provides geotechnical site observations and testing during construction,
  • develops written proposals and estimates,
  • evaluates field and laboratory data,
  • performs calculations and analysis to assist in the development of geotechnical design recommendations,
  • prepares geotechnical reports,
  • performs plan reviews, and,
  • carries out other miscellaneous field and laboratory geotechnical-related tasks.

Position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and registered P.E. license preferably with geotechnical concentration/interest. Prior past experience working in a geotechnical environment a plus. Must be familiar with geotechnical software and Microsoft programs. Civil Engineer / Project Manager, Pasadena – Earth Systems has an immediate opening for a seasoned Civil / Professional Engineer with Project Management experience in the Pasadena office. This position provides support to the Managing Principal by performing various field and office functions taking a proposal from beginning to project end. A Civil / Professional Engineer:

  • conducts fieldwork involving geotechnical site investigations,
  • provides geotechnical site observations and testing during construction,
  • develops written proposals and estimates, evaluates field and laboratory data,
  • performs calculations and analysis to assist in the development of geotechnical design recommendations,
  • prepares geotechnical reports,
  • performs plan reviews, and,
  • carries out other miscellaneous field and laboratory geotechnical-related tasks.

Position requires a B.S. and California licensure in Civil Engineering or as a Professional Engineer, preferably with geotechnical concentration/interest. Administrative Assistant, Pasadena – Earth Systems seeks a qualified candidate for a part-time Administrative Assistant with a concentration in Engineering, Geology or Natural Sciences at our Pasadena operations to work in both the office and soils/materials testing laboratory.

Candidate must possess the following, but not limited to: Attention to Detail, Thoroughness, Organization, Analyzing Information. Some Accounting knowledge, PC/MS office Proficiency, Data Entry Skills, General Math, and Strong Communication Skills. Experience with AutoCAD or CorelDraw a must. Proof of driver’s license and auto insurance. Employment conditioned upon a satisfactory result of post-offer medical examination and credit check. Flexible work hours to accommodate school schedule will be considered for the successful candidate.

  • Administrative Assistant Job Duties: This position performs administrative and office support activities, including word processing, assisting in the procession of technical reports and correspondence, hard copy and e-file records maintenance, interfacing with clients, providing support for technical staff, dispatching support, pickup and delivery of plan documents and other duties as assigned.
  • Draftsperson Job Duties: Provides CAD drafting and design support for Project Engineer during the planning and construction of typical civil engineering projects. Prepares computer-generated engineering drawings according to established standards and procedures and coordinates details and dimensions between drawing sheets. Revises or changes drawing, traces and/or copies existing drawings and completes basic calculations with specific instructions. Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to Project Manager for review. Must be flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
  • Lab Technician Job Duties:  May assist with sample preparation and minor tasks in soil/materials laboratory, under the direction of Laboratory Personnel.

  • Certification in any or all of the following is required: Nuclear testing gauge, ACI, ICC, Caltrans, DSA, and AWS

Desired skills and qualifications: Prior experience working in a construction materials testing environment a plus. Must be familiar with Microsoft programs. Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to “learn by doing.” Hours may vary week to week. Part-time to Full-time positions. Soils Lab / Field Technician, Pasadena – Earth Systems has an opening for a Soils Laboratory & Field Technician in the Pasadena office. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • conduct soil tests, including but not limited to maximum density vs. optimum moisture, plasticity index, grain size analysis, direct shear, R-value, and other various soil tests
  • Performs tests on construction materials such as concrete, masonry, and steel,
  • Uses CCRL?AMRL qualitative control references. Calibrates equipment.
  • Maintains laboratory records and assigns tracking numbers for sample quality control. Logs all lab samples.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly laboratory environment.

Desired skills and qualifications: Attention to detail, thoroughness, organization, analyzing information. Competent math and strong communication skills. Strong interest in construction technology or the natural sciences. NICET, ACI, ICC, AWS, ASNT certifications desirable, but not required.
