Earth Systems conducted a geotechnical engineering and geologic hazards investigation for this project, which involved an upgrade to the existing sanitation plant. New facilities included headworks, a grit chamber and pump station, splitter boxes, aeration basins, clarifiers, pump stations, and a new blower building. The investigation encompassed review of geologic maps and literature, subsurface exploration including hollow stem auger borings and cone penetrometer test soundings, laboratory analysis of samples, geologic and geotechnical evaluation of data, and preparation of technical reports.

Earth Systems was retained to provide geotechnical observation, materials testing, and special inspection during the construction phase of the project.

Our scope of services included field compaction and laboratory testing of soils and aggregate base; observation of stabilization fabric and gravel under foundations; special inspection of rebar and concrete; sampling and testing of concrete; special inspection of post-tensioned anchors; structural steel inspection; and preparation of testing and inspection reports.
