Project Summary

Earth Systems has contributed to Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Ramona Garden Park Rehabilitation project, which aims to revitalize the public space with major improvements including the construction of a new restroom building, event space with a stage, new pedestrian flatwork, new decorative paving areas, and stormwater infiltration facilities. The multi-million dollar project is funded by grants awarded by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.

Services

Earth Systems performed a geotechnical engineering investigation that comprised a general site reconnaissance (including borings and infiltration testing), subsurface exploration, laboratory testing of selected soil samples, geotechnical evaluation of the data collected, and report preparation. The report not only made preliminary geotechnical recommendations for site preparation, grading, utility trenches, foundations, slabs-on-grade and exterior flatwork, pavement criteria design, and drainage and maintenance; the report also assessed the site’s potential for strong seismic shaking, differential and total settlement, erosion potential, and liquefaction settlement.

For earthwork operations such as grading, Earth Systems provided geotechnical observation and laboratory materials testing involving sieve analysis and maximum density vs. optimum moisture. Construction is on-going; Earth Systems has assisted the construction manager with project specifications, including a review of material submittals, and is providing materials testing and special inspection services.
