Project Summary

Earth Systems provided a variety of services for the Cedar Street Mixed Use and Family Apartments, a 100% affordable housing, multi-family rental community in Santa Cruz, California. The complex is comprised of 64 1-3 bedroom family apartments with ground-floor commercial and retail space.

Geotechnical Engineering

Earth Systems conducted a geotechnical engineering study to provide preliminary geotechnical engineering recommendations for site preparation and grading, foundations, slabs-on-grade, exterior flatwork, utility trench backfill, and site drainage maintenance.

During construction, Earth Systems provided:

  • Construction quality assurance services to monitor adherence to the approved plans and specifications
  • Special inspection of reinforcing steel and post-tension tendon placement
  • Concrete placement and sampling
  • Laboratory testing of cast-in-place concrete samples
  • Compaction testing
  • Qualified Storm Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Practitioner (QSP)
