Earth Systems conducted a geotechnical engineering investigation for this project, which was to be constructed on Broad Street adjacent to Highway 101 at the site of the Broad Street Community Garden. Park improvements included new pedestrian flatwork, a shade structure, tables and benches, playground structures, and decorative fencing.

The investigation encompassed review of geologic maps and literature, subsurface exploration, laboratory analysis of samples, geotechnical evaluation of data, and preparation of a geotechnical engineering report. Issues addressed in the reports included expansive soils, seismicity and seismic-related hazards, site preparation, grading, foundations for signage, fencing, shade and playground structures, and new pedestrian flatwork.
