Fire Station No. 1 in Hollister, CA is a 7,210 square foot essential services building. It is a two-story, concrete masonry unit (CMU) structure that utilizes a concrete floor slab-on-grade. The first floor of the structure houses the apparatus bays, an exercise room, offices, mechanical rooms, and storage space. The second story includes dormitories, offices, a day room, and kitchen and dining facilities.
Earth Systems conducted a geotechnical engineering investigation and provided grading observation and special inspection and testing services. The special inspections included:
- Reinforcing steel
- Structural concrete
- Concrete masonry
- Structural welding
- High strength bolting
- Spray-applied fireproofing
The tests and inspections were conducted in accordance with ICC requirements.
