World renowned Eisenhower Medical Center had its official ground breaking ceremony in 1966. Dedicated in 1971 EMC was named in honor of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The main campus is located on 130 acres in Rancho Mirage, California. The campus consists of a 476 room hospital, numerous health centers, surgery centers, emergency facilities, rehabilitation complexes and administration units. It also contains the renowned Betty Ford Center. Eisenhower provides several recognized “Centers of Excellence” which include the Eisenhower Smilow Heart Center, the Eisenhower Lucy Curci Cancer Center, the Eisenhower Neuroscience Institute and the Eisenhower Orthopedic Center.

Earth Systems has provided geotechnical investigations, geological surveys and testing and inspection services throughout the complex as development continues. Earth Systems’ participation with the campus has included multiple buildings, parking structures, central plant facilities, heliports, and roadway and parking designs. Services provided have included geotechnical construction monitoring, deep foundation studies, laboratory testing and special inspections during construction. Forensic science non-destructive techniques have been used for structural evaluation of existing buildings as during the development and expansion of facilities. These techniques include concrete and steel x-ray, ground penetrating radar, and magnetic resonance and pulse velocity methods.
