The Cesar Chavez Library renovation and expansion completed an ambitious $3.9-million upgrade for the City of Salinas. In addition to the renovation of the existing library structure, the project includes an addition of approximately 6,000 square feet of new library space. The renovated library features study rooms, a homework center, a local history room, a computer room, a digital arts center, and a community meeting room. The building addition utilizes a combination of wood framing and concrete masonry unit construction.
Earth Systems conducted a geotechnical engineering investigation for the facility and provided construction observation and testing services, including special inspection of concrete, structural steel, and masonry.
