Buena Vista Energy has developed a 38-megawatt wind project southwest of Byron in Contra Costa County, California. Each wind turbine consists of a Mitsubishi 1.0-megawatt generator mounted on 45- to 55-meter monopoles. The turbines are constructed on cylindrical steel monopoles supported on the proprietary Patrick and Henderson tensionless pier foundation. Site development included cut and fill grading to construct tower pads, unpaved access roadway construction, and underground utility installation.

Earth Systems’ services included a geotechnical engineering investigation and report in which we presented our findings and recommendations for site grading and foundation design, as well as thermal and electrical resistivity testing, and engineering design support.
