Engineers Week 2022

February 20th through 26th is Engineers Week 2022. Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the week is devoted to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce. This week is all about increasing understanding and interest in engineering and technology careers.

Reimagining the Possible

The 2022 theme is “Reimagining the Possible!” This week-long series celebrates a year-round commitment to a positive impact in the fields of engineering. Most importantly, they do so by celebrating how our engineers make a difference in the world and engaging students in engineering disciplines.

The theme gives kudos to the engineers who continually recreate new possibilities. That is to say, engineers develop our technologies, products, and services that change how we live. Often, they inspire a new generation by celebrating how our engineers make what seems impossible become possible.

Recognition

Join us this week by posting photos of your team, your engineering projects, and, sure, selfies with a message about your engineering role. Shout out the value of engineering or engaging students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Let’s recognize the critical work our engineers, technicians, and technologists do regularly. Use the social media hashtags #Eweek2022 or #WhatEngineersDo with your posts for Engineers Week 2022.

What is a PE?Engineering at Earth Systems

PEs are Professional Engineers with the only designation recognized by law allowing qualified professionals to present themselves to the public as “Engineers.” A PE is an individual who has fulfilled the educational (typically a four-year accredited degree) and experience requirements and passed the specifically required exams. Basically, there are six major branches of engineering: Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Management, and Geotechnical. See the National Society of Professional Engineers for more information on a PE.
