Restore Our Earth” is the theme for Earth Day 2021. Last year, the yearly Earth Day celebration turned 50 years old. The events this year focus on restoring the earth’s ecosystems by looking toward emerging technologies, innovative thinking, and natural actions.

Earth Day takes place each year on April 22nd. It is the largest observed secular holiday in the world. In fact, over a billion people spanning more than 192 countries participate in Earth Day festivities. However, like last year, the majority of the Earth Day 2021 events are virtual and online due to the COVID pandemic.

Some events began on Tuesday, April 20th, like the Global Youth Summit beginning with youth climate activist, Greta Thunberg. Although most of the global events start online at noon today (Thursday, April 22nd). Ultimately, it runs concurrently with the Biden administration’s planned global climate summit.
