L’Aventure Winery caves are part of a new expansion at the boutique winery located in Paso Robles, CA. The project includes a new administration building, tasting room, and the underground caves. The caves are used primarily for temperature control and storage of the barrels.
As part of the winery expansion, Earth Systems prepared the geotechnical engineering report for the administration building and tasting room, as well as provided special inspection, materials testing, and tunnel construction observation services. Key features of the caves included two shotcrete faced, soil nail walls at the portal entrances. Other elements of the project included roadway realignment, addressing existing fill, and expansive soils and rock.
Earth Systems collaborated with Condor Earth Technologies of Sonora, California during the exploration.
