This project consisted of an upgrade to the existing Goleta Wastewater Treatment Facility. It involved the construction of several new plant structures, including several new buildings, aeration tanks, sedimentation tanks, pump stations, a sludge holding tank, and a biofilter, along with associated underground sewer, water, power, and communication utilities. Earth Systems provided a geologic hazards and geotechnical engineering report during the design phase of the project. Two of the areas slated for upgraded improvements were located in an area crossed by mapped traces of the More Ranch fault; other geotechnical challenges included variable soil conditions and shallow groundwater.
